Soup’s On!

by Melisa Wells on October 17, 2012

There’s a fantastic event happening in Naperville this weekend, and I wanted to help spread the word about it. It’s called “Soup’s On”, and you can still purchase tickets to attend if you’re local and thinking that Sunday would be an excellent day to participate in a yummy fundraiser that benefits people in need!

What is Soup’s On!, and where is it?
Soup’s On! is Rotary Club’s casual family afternoon charitable fundraiser which features entertainment, food and friendship. Over 30 area restaurants will be serving soups, stews, chili, chowders, BBQ entrees and sandwiches, as well as artisan cheeses, specialty breads, and delectable desserts. A children’s menu, soft drinks, and a beer & wine cash bar will also be available. There’s no shortage of entertainment: guests will be entertained by wonderfully-talented students from Districts 203 and 204.

Soup’s On! will also house a children’s activity area sponsored by the DuPage Children’s Museum, and a silent auction. The event will take place on Sunday, October 21, from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm in the Tellabs Atrium, located at 1415 West Diehl Road, on the NW Corner of Diehl and Raymond, in Naperville.

Why “Soup’s On!”?
Soup’s On, ties in with the theme of a “soup kitchen” and feeding people in need, which is the goal of the three benefitting local not-for-profit organizations. The event addresses the ever present need to provide food, clothing, and shelter, and is especially timely as food supplies and donations dwindle this time of year.

Why Tellabs?
Tellabs is one of the most beautiful locations in Naperville. Rain or shine the event will be held in the stunning atrium at Tellabs; the event will never be put in jeopardy by the weather. Also, Tellabs has plenty of parking both in front and the garages, so no guest will be discouraged in finding a parking space.

Why were these charities chosen?
One of the Rotary International goals is to address global hunger, and part of the global hunger struggle takes place right here. We hope to help local charities that are addressing hunger in our regional community. Hesed House, DuPage PADS and Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry do just that.

How much do tickets cost, and where can I buy them?
Tickets are $45.00 for an adult, $35 for seniors 65+, and military personnel, $10 for children 6-12, and children under 6 are free. There is an early bird special for adults for $40 through September 21st. Tickets are available at www.soupsonrotary.com

This is a great idea, I wonder if our local Rotary Clubs are doing something similar.
