Guess Who’s Going On Vacation?

Yes, that little cherub is going on vacation, but not with us. She’ll be spending her time at the Petsmart Petshotel, which is her absolute favorite place in the world…other than at home, next to Jim. She’ll play daily in Doggie Day Camp with all of her doggie friends. She might even send a postcard to Buddy and Penny, the NukeBeagles.

I have sufficiently overplanned as I always do for a trip. In fact, this is how over-the-top I went this time:

~~~I took a little blank journal and wrote down every place in NYC that we would like to visit if at all possible, along with the address, phone number, hours, and admission cost (if applicable).
~~~I put all of the listed places into Jim’s GPS (Note to Self: Change the setting on the GPS from biking to WALKING.) so that we’ll have directions at any time.

~~~Jim and I only purchased advance tickets to this and this; those are happening on Day 3. Since we didn’t want to be zig-zagging around town on the other days, we gave each day a journal page and wrote down what areas/activities we would scout on those days.
I mean really, you have to have a plan when you’re going to explore a major city. And I made it clear to Jim that our “plan” is as it should be: mostly flexible. But still, you people aren’t going to believe what we will probably accomplish in a few days’ time, unless you recall my Marathon Daytrip to Chicago last summer that took three posts to summarize. Missed it? Read about it from the beginning here.
Happy Friday! Meet me back here tomorrow, same time, same place! I’ve got another post comin’ atcha!
    Have a wonderful time. I’m a planner too. It helps things go more smoothly.
    I love doggy camps where they have TVS in the dogs rooms! Atticus loves him some rock of love now ha ha!
    Two words n NYC: CHINA TOWN
    Stacey: Plans make things go more smoothly. That’s what I keep trying to tell everybody!
    Kat: Thanks! I’m so excited!
    Ang: Me too! Though we don’t splurge on that for Roxie; with her being in Day Camp all day, they tell me she’s exhausted at 5 when it’s over, so after dinner she goes right to bed without any tv. πŸ™‚ And Chinatown? It’s our second stop! πŸ™‚
  • WeaselMomma March 27, 2009, 7:18 pm
    Did you scout out date, time and location for Roxie to poo and write her postcards? I thought not.
    Sometimes I feel the need to plan out my time back home since there are so many people I want to see and usually so little time! I did it once and it worked great, planned days and times with people ahead and so got to see most of them during that trip, too lazy to keep it up though, lol. Have a great vacation!
    Freak πŸ™‚ And I mean that in the most kind and loving way possible.
    Have fun — and if you do go to the Marriott Marquis (we stayed there last Jan when we were in NYC), skip the revolving restaurant. Totally overpriced and not worth it. And we only went there with friends for after dinner drinks and dessert.
    Can’t wait to hear what you saw and did!
    Sometimes I felt like our trip to NY was work trying to fit in everything. I still loved the city though. Have a fun time.
    Weaselmomma: No, I didn’t. SHE did. ROFL!
    Microblogologist: Thanks! It’s a matter of finding the balance between relaxing and seeing stuff…
    Michelle: Revolving restaurant? No thanks. Sounds expensive anyway. πŸ™‚ We’re sticking to casual fare, non-revolving.
    Otter Thomas: Thanks! I know what you mean about it sometimes feeling like work trying to fit everything in…I have a future post planned about a trip that was just like that: Disney world. πŸ˜‰
